Multi Engine Rating
A Multi Engine Rating in Philippines is a pilot rating that qualifies you to fly as pilot-in-command (PIC) of any aircraft with more than one engine. It is a necessary pilot certification add-on for any aspiring pilot to advance to the airlines, or to increase their overall marketability in the aviation workforce.
A transition training to complex multi-engine airplanes, which is a basic requirement in most of the commercial airlines around the globe. For additional rating, we have the following aircraft available:
- Piper (PA34-200) Seneca
- Baron B-55 (for charter operations only)
- Piper (PA31-350) Navajo Chieftain (for charter operations only)
- Total flying hours: 12 Hours
- Duration: 1 month
Requirements For a Multi Engine Rating
Required for a multi engine rating:-
- Earn the required endorsements from an authorized instructor
- Take and pass a checkride with a pilot examiner to act as PIC of a multi engine aircraft
Not required to earn a multi engine rating:=
- No requirement for a knowledge test (when the multi engine rating is conducted as an add-on)
- No minimum flight time requirement (however you can expect to need 10 to 15 hours in the multi engine airplane before receiving endorsements from an instructor)
If the candidate has never earned a previous pilot certificate, the requirements must be met for a private pilot certificate, although the multi engine aircraft may be used for all training.
Instructor Rating
An Instructor Rating in Philippines allows you to teach someone how to fly.
Earning an Instructor Rating in Philippines (aeroplane) is one of the gateways to a career in aviation. After the programme, the candidate earns a Class IV Instructor Rating. As experience builds, the Rating progresses to Class III, Class II and eventually Class I. The Class IV Instructor Rating certifies the holder of a Commercial Pilot Licence or ATPL to conduct Piloit training under the supervision of a Class I or II Flight Instructor working within a Flight Training Unit leading to the issuance of the RPP, PPL, and CPL licences and the Night and VFR-OTT Ratings.
Graduates that have just completed their CPL will normally choose to do an Instructors Rating in order to gain experience. This rating will allow you to work as a flight Instructor and build hours simultaneously. This involves undergoing individual skills testing, evaluation and preparation.
Eligibility Criteria
The basic requirements for applying to become certified as an instructor by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) are as follows:
- Must be a holder of a Commercial Pilot License
- Holder of Instrument Rating
- Must be a holder of a current medical certificate (Class 1)
- Must be 18 years and above

- Ground school for Principles of Flight and Teaching
- Right Seat Transition
- Written Exam in Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)
- Skills Test (Checkride) with CAAP Inspector
Airline Transport Pilot Theory (ATPL) Course
This course is conducted as per the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines PCAR.
